Kentucky Waterfalls, Arches and Landscapes
Gradual Gratification (Photo 2 of 4)
This seemed like a safe enough place for my first attempt to rappel (and use hand ascenders) in the wild. I was able to find enough toe holds to keep at least one foot on the rock surface most of the time. The main exception was the spot beside the free falling part of the waterfall.
I found this "new to me" waterfall a few months earlier. I knew it would drive me crazy until I found a safe way to photograph it from below. Now I'm very happy to be reaching the point where I will no longer allow gravity to deny me access to waterfalls.
This is Laurel Canyon Falls in Laurel County, Kentucky.
