The Adventure Starts Here
This is Flat Branch Falls 1, in McCreary County, Kentucky. It is the first of seven sequentially numbered waterfalls on this branch, and the one nearest to the mouth of the branch. This off-trail area is very rugged. It is never easy to move past the waterfalls and other obstacles along the way. The natural obstacle course here will be a deterrent to some, but it is an added attraction for adventure addicts like myself. I walked along the huge fallen tree (shown at the lower right) to get on top of a large boulder to take this photo.
