Taking The Path Of Least Resistance
This is Twin Falls in Rock Island State Park, Tennessee. This waterfall flows into Caney Fork below Great Falls Dam. There was no waterfall here prior to construction of the dam and the adjacent power plant. The dam caused the water level to rise in the Collins River, and to fill channels constructed to redirect some flow to the power plant. Water from those new sources now makes it's way into underground passageways and caverns. Then the excess water spills out above Caney Fork to form this beautiful eighty foot cascade. People were likely to have been very surprised when this waterfall suddenly appeared!
